Étalés, vautrés nonchalamment sur le parvis de la Scala, ils échangeaient bruyamment : Elle préférait Fellini et le sourire perdu de Giulietta trompetant dans la Strada. Lui, plus volontiers, trébuchait agréablement sur l’arrogante mélancolie de Chaplin. Relisant ce dernier : L'humour développe notre sens des proportions et nous révèle que l'absurde rôde toujours derrière une gravité exagérée.
