Laurel was thin as a nail. Hardy was more imposing. One ethereal, the other down to earth. Only their hats flew.

Laurel était mince comme un clou. Hardy, lui, était plus imposant. L’un aérien, l’autre terre à terre. Seulement leurs chapeaux volaient.
Laurel was locked in a cupboard. Hardy searched everywhere for him, in vain, couldn't find him. He finally opened the door, found him in the cupboard, and said: " Why didn't you call out ? " Laurel replied: " It was so dark I thought you wouldn't hear me."

Laurel était enfermé dans un placard. Hardy le cherchait partout, en vain, ne le trouvait point. Il finit par ouvrir la porte, le trouva dans le placard et lui dit : “Mais pourquoi n’as-tu pas appelé ?” Laurel lui répondit : “Il faisait tellement noir que j’ai pensé que tu ne m’entendrais pas.”
