The symbolism of a brick is universal in the sense that it carries the unity of a future construction. A unit that, once assembled, forms an integral whole, a protection, an habitat.
The holes present in these bricks ensure the fluid passage of the cement and thus the adhesion between each element.
Ischemic accidents are due to the occlusion of a cerebral artery. The brain is therefore partially deprived of oxygen and glucose. This occlusion leads to the stroke AVC.
Then follows the graphic metaphor between the holes of the brick and these countless cerebral arteries; lack of brain irrigation.
On this brick, schematically, will remain some unobstructed holes whose braille reading represents the letters AVC of stroke.

La symbolique d’une brique est universelle. Elle porte en elle l’unité d’une construction future, d’un projet. Une unité qui, une fois assemblée, forme un tout solidaire, une protection

durable, un habitat.

Les trous présents dans une brique de maçonnerie assurent le passage fluide du ciment et une bonne adhésion entre chaque élément.

Les accidents ischémiques sont dus à l’occlusion d’une artère cérébrale. Le cerveau est alors partiellement privé d’oxygène et de glucose. Cette occlusion amène à l’accident vasculaire

cérébral, l’AVC.

S’ensuit alors la métaphore entre les trous de la brique et ces innombrables artères cérébrales. Sur les briques de ce mur symbolique, de nombreux trous sont déjà bouchés, restent cependant quelques trous non obstrués représentant les lettres AVC en braille. Ceux-ci portent l’espoir et les perspectives de ces nouveaux types d’interventions chirurgicales.

Les mécènes du Fonds Erasme se sont mobilisés afin de financer la construction d’une seconde salle de neuroangiographie à l'Hôpital Universitaire Erasme.

Celle-ci permettra de doubler le nombre d’hommes et de femmes pris en charge pour un AVC en urgence, un anévrysme cérébral ou une malformation artérioveineuse.

Ces briques symboliques ainsi que les dons reçus illustrent la concrétisation du financement de ce projet devenu réalité : Poser la première brique.

Through those symbolic objects, donators of the Fonds Erasme financed the construction of a second neuroangiography room at the Erasmus University Hospital.This will double the number of patients treated for emergency stroke, cerebral aneurysm or arteriovenous malformation.This bricks concept illustrates the financing concretization of this architectural project which has become a reality.
